He is well known for playing Winston Churchill in Doctor Who and also recently on stage. He is famous for his character of Bert Large in Doc Martin. He has worked extensively in the theatre, and has starred in the TV movie Spartacus, the TV series Rome and Dune as well as other TV shows such as Lovejoy, Minder, Lewis and Jonathan Creek. About Ian McNeice
English Actor Ian McNeice was born on 2 October 1950 in Hampshire, and trained at The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. Before that he had worked as an ASM at the Salisbury Playhouse.
Naturally, his professional career began in the theatre, including some years with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
He has starred in many films and well known TV shows and most recently is famous for playing Winston Churchill in Doctor Who and on stage in The King’s Speech. As Bert Large in Doc Martin, he has created a character in a popular TV sitcom.
As a long standing Supporter of Our Disappearing Planet, Ian McNeice gives as much of his valuable spare time as he can to help support the charity, and we always welcome him to events and Memorabilia shows.

Having recently appeared as WINSTON CHURCHILL in the Stage Version of THE KING'S SPEECH at WYNDHAM'S THEATRE in the West End,
Ian McNeice has now been offered another play.
Ian McNeice will appear alongside: Maggie Stead, James Laurenson, Serena Evans, Susannah Fielding and Nigel Harman in a new production of SCHOOL for SCANDAL.
He will play Sir Oliver Surface and the play will be directed by Jamie Lloyd (She Stoops to Conquer - National Theatre, Duchess of Malfi-Old Vic).
The play will open in BATH (5th-21st July) and then MALVERN (22nd-28th July.
It is hoped that the play will then transfer to the West End - although nothing is fixed at present. Ian McNeice recently took part in a DOCTOR WHO signing at the Stamp Shop in the Strand with Tom Baker and Mark Gatiss.
His next personal appearance will be at REGENERATIONS - the weekend of 22nd-23rd Sept at the Village Hotel in Swansea.
